The Backdrop

In 2017, Danilo and Monica (DaMò) were planning a relocation from Rome and Abruzzo, Italy, to Philadelphia. They purposefully chose Philly to launch their business due to the vibrant and world-renowned food scene, as well as the passionate and energetic, on-the-go population. They aimed to bring balanced and homemade fresh pasta dishes using imported ingredients (olive oil, semolina, tomatoes) and centuries of authentic Italian recipes to the City of Brotherly Love. Furthermore, DaMò was committed to delivering their product quickly, without any concessions, and needed strong visibility from the street into their pasta lab – displaying their pasta-making process from scratch.

The Build-up

DaMò interviewed other brokerage firms and, as a result, knew they needed full alignment with whomever they chose. They unquestionably required patience, education and advocacy when it came to building out the full team of architects, designers, engineers, contractors and ultimately a landlord that would genuinely grasp their concept. The process would ensue with a limited budget and partially from overseas, underscoring the need for a trusted local partner.  Rethinc was introduced through a Pennsylvania business leader and the natural partnership started there.

The Process

“We were traveling back and forth to Italy during the entire process. We had no idea how things worked in Philly—or in the United States for that matter. While we couldn’t always understand things thoroughly, the team at Rethinc was patiently guiding us and consistently banishing all of our doubts.”
